What is a Morning Meeting
What is a Morning Meeting, you might ask, and if it’s a Morning Meeting why does Julie usually post these things at night?
Good question.
Our pets, Sgt. Pepper (sweet yet often anxious dog), Bean (bitey and persnickety calico cat) and Frankie (derpy sweet black cat) gather on the bed every morning while we have our coffee. My husband and I scroll through the news and we talk about our day, things we need to do and think about, and of course current events. And the pets chime in in various ways, and also generally keep us from getting up.
Like a little meeting.
And I take energy and love from those times, and it reminds me of course of when our children were quite young and they’d often tumble into our room early in the morning and snooze with us and we’d all talk about the day ahead, sans scrolling on phones because phones didn’t really do that back then.
It’s nice. Here is Pepper for you.
I’ve been posting at night because that’s when I write (usually) and I figure I should just publish instead of doubting the words. BUT I realize that if I was really sold on getting more algorithmic attention, I’d post in the morning and throughout the day?
Honestly, I have no idea how to draw attention to any of my work these days. In the days of Blogger I had a much bigger platform and more general understanding of how to get eyes on the page. Aging is weird when technology moves so fast.
My hope is that I post three or four times a week, that I do a photo upload once a week of the things I’ve witnessed, and that I can get some open threads going.
Of course, I don’t have a lot of eyes on pages so who knows.
And Frankie for your amusement
Today my open thread Morning Meeting prompt (which I’m publishing in the Morning after the Meeting) is: What rituals do you perform each week that help you feel more centered and connected (morning, noon, or night)?
Mine of course is the morning meeting and I really appreciate that liminal space between waking and launching into the day, where I get to feel softness and love.
And claws in the case of Bean who moves from affection to murder in a moment.
Hope to hear from you and have a great weekend!
